The theme for this year's Holo-pack.Holo-print is 'Threats and Opportunities'. The conference takes place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from November 14-16, and Reconnaissance is now inviting proposals for papers on this topic.

This theme has been selected so that the global holography industry, and individuals and companies, can consider their strengths and weaknesses and the threats and opportunities for holography. In other words, an industry-wide SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) at a period of unprecedented challenges to holography's established markets.

For the past few years Holo-pack•Holo-print has had an upbeat theme, reflecting the prevailing growth, expansion, innovation and development within the industry. But perhaps it's time for the industry as a whole to take stock and to consider its future for the coming decade and beyond. There is still undoubted energy and imagination in holography, with new techniques, new products and new inventions unveiled in a regular stream from companies and research organisations. But there are clearly threats, too, to holography's established applications and markets. How holography will rise to the challenges, and find new applications, will be one the key topics scrutinised and discussed at Holo-pack.Holo-print.
